Bernard Thomas was born in 1891 and joined the Ottawa Fire Department June 5, 1912.

He died at 23 years of age of complications from an accident, which occurred, between his horse drawn hose reel and a streetcar while responding to a fire in the OOAC building.

The accident happened on Nicholas Street on August 14, 1914.
