Kenneth Currie

Kenneth Currie was born in Ottawa April 3, 1950.
He joined the Ottawa Fire Department April 14, 1969 at 19 years of age.
Ken was very active with the Ottawa Professional Fire Fighters Association and believed very strongly in firefighter safety and wellness.
He served the Association as the WSIB representative. Ken fought long and hard for workers rights.
It is ironic that Ken became the first firefighter to be compensated for a line of duty death for brain cancer.

Ken rose through the ranks and attained the rank of District Chief in 19xx .

Kenneth Currie was 50 years old at the time of his death February 1, 2000.

Kenneth Currie was married to his high school sweetheart Judith Salter and they had three sons Jason, Daryl and Darcy.

One of Ken’s final wishes was that his son Jason get into the fire service. His son Jason joined the Ottawa Fire Services on June 4, 2001. Jason was given his father’s badge number, which he cherishes.
